In line with the post-independence drive for self-reliance, Atul's founder, Mr. R.S. Mittal started manufacturing of Diesel Engine / Pump set to provide Indian Farmers round -the-year irrigation facilities, which later on turned out to be a revolution in agricultural sector.

Over period of time his two sons, Mr. Mukesh Mittal & Mr. Sanjeev Mittal also joined hands to further cater to infrastructure need of the country by developing Diesel Generating sets as an alternative captive power generation and also diversified into different areas expanding its activities rapidly with present group turnover in excess of 250 millions.
